Bryan and I Ride Downtown, Sam is in Town

Bryan drove up from Texas yesterday, and Sam came in from Minneapolis. I think he may have been trying to surprise me, but he didn’t do a great job keeping anything secret, unlike NYC. Bryan brought his bike with him so we took a ride downtown and back, and Sam did some exploring. I think we’re going to find beer and food tonight, then they both have very long drives back home. Even a 3 day weekend is tough to do when you’re driving, because Denver is a long ways from things.

Sam’s arrival was sort of funny. I got a text message with one word: “Gretchen.” I had to think about it for a bit, but then I realized he was referencing “Gretchen Goes to Nebraska,” and it meant he had just made it to Nebraska from Minneapolis. The time of the message meant he would get in around 1 am. Bryan and I got back from Adam’s place around 12:30 or so, and I was beat, so I climbed into bed and Bryan took the sofa. Shortly after I heard a noise that sounded like the Celica (giant fart can!), and soon after that I heard Sam’s voice. I went out and opened the door before he had a chance to knock or whatever. Pretty brilliant.

50 Miler

I did my first 50 mile ride since an ill-conceived ride back in KC 5 or so years ago. I’m tired but feel pretty good. Couldn’t have asked for better weather for riding.

Gorgeous Evening for a Ride

It was beautiful out there tonight, and I took the opportunity to do a nice 20 mile ride. I wish it looked like this out there more often.

GPS Bike Fun

I picked up a bike mount for the GPS I use the other day, and got a chance to try the setup out tonight. I did about 18 miles with a loop around the lake plus a few little detours.

Slow But on Target in April

April could have been better but I really don’t have much to complain about. After nearly 5 full months I am down over 30 pounds, and generally right on target to hit my goal in late September.

For help reading the charts, the red line is the moving average trend line. In the monthly chart, the diamonds are actual recorded weights. In the total progress chart, the actual weights are shown in dull gray. The dashed yellow line is the goal line. The flat spot at the end of April is my trip to NYC, where I didn’t have access to a scale.
