World Series and Other Fun

At Lisa’s brilliant suggestion and finding of $200 plane tickets, I called my dad on Thursday and invited him to go to the World Series game with me. He was a little unsure but ended up flying in early on Saturday morning for the game. We rode the train to Union Station to avoid trying to park downtown. I have never seen the train so full or downtown with so many people wandering about. It was like one giant party.

The game was great, other than that third inning. The experience was fantastic. I’ll try to post a few pictures soon. For the first time in my life I didn’t care about $6 beers or $4 peanuts, since I make money now and this was a huge game.

The train ride home was comically crowded as well, though I hear it is actually worse during football games.

On Sunday my dad and I drove to Golden to try to take the Coors tour to find out that Sundays are the one day they don’t have them. So we went up to Buffalo Bill’s grave instead, which was apparently as cheesy as it was in the 70s. The road up to it is pretty steep and full of switchbacks, and there were an incredible number of cyclists riding it. More bikes than cars. Later in the day we went to Boulder and drove up into Boulder Park there, and it was the same story. People are really hardcore.

We wandered around the Pearl St Mall in Boulder for a while, and my dad got a “back off man, i’m a scientist” shirt, which he can pull off since it is true. We had a couple margaritas at the Rio and then headed back to Denver to catch Game 4 on the tvs at J.D.’s Bait Shop.

On Monday I headed into work as usual but left my dad with some ideas and my bikes. He ended up rearranging some of my furniture and cleaning things up, and that night we went to Target and spent some money. The place looks way better than before he got here, though I still have too much stuff. I dropped him off at the airport early yesterday.

Great weekend A+ would do again.
