Happy Halloween!

Well, we pretty much got done in the field for the rest of the year. All the harvests that will be done this fall are done, unless Rick goes insane again. All the screens are off the cages, all the frames have been hauled in, all the small screens have been rolled up and stored in the machine shed and all of Irv’s big screens have been folded up and will be put away tomorrow. It’s nice to finally be done with that, even if it did take over a month longer than last year. Unfortunately now we’ll mostly be threshing and picking, which isn’t much fun. At least it won’t be cold though.

Well, it looks like Sam got himself a cellular telephone. Now it looks like Lisa and I are the only ones out of this loop. Too bad I can’t see why I should spend $35-$40 a month when I rarely use a telephone anyway.

It’s Snowing!

I’m going to go skiing with Robert in January. He got me some used skis today. Robert seems to think they’re awesome, so I’ve got my fingers crossed. I probably won’t see him until Thanksgiving, so I guess I’ll just pretend that I have new toys.

I’ve posted my schedule for spring.

Long Time No Update

My excuse is that I’ve essentially done nothing but homework for the last week. I managed to hang out with Sam and Lisa on Friday night, and go out for supper with friends from work last night, but every other night I have pretty much come home and worked on labs, on homework, on projects, etc. Even tonight, when I though I might get some time to goof off, I ended up deriving a bunch of equations and debugging a Fortran program. How much fun is that?

I register tomorrow morning at 8:00. 12 more credits and I’m OUT OF HERE!

FedEx

Update: my mom rules. She went to the FedEx place and picked my burner up for me! I hope to find the time to install it some time later tonight.

No Burner

Nooo! They tried to deliver it, but no one was home!
deliver failed

I should just add my dorm address as a shipping address on my credit card, then it would be here right now, and I could install it. Instead I have to do homework.

Burner

New CD burner on the way.

Emperor Bush

George Bush is a genius. All hail the emperor.

Firefly

“…someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill ‘em right back…. You have the right, same as anyone, to live and try to kill people.”
Captain Malcolm Reynolds, from Firefly

Oh man am I tired. I have a bunch of work I really need to get done by next week, but I just don’t feel like starting anything tonight. It seems like too much work.

I might as well broadcast it here, where no one probably cares: My friend Alicia got engaged last Saturday, so congratulations, Alicia. Now I’m not just the only one in that group of friends who isn’t in a relationship, I’m the only one who’s not fucking engaged. Crazy stuff.

Freetype

I’ve done some tweaking, including replacing my freetype library with an experimental hacked version. I’m not sure what the verdict on the fonts is yet, so I thought I’d have our resident font experts (you OSX users) give their opinions. In deference to Ross, the picture is now a jpeg (though pngs are better, imho). Take a look.

Linux

linux is like macos x minus the apps and beaten with an ugly stick
Sam Wong

Sam, I have more apps at my fingertips than you know. Besides, what ugly stick made this interface, eh?

Sam said that after I told him I couldn’t play Quicktime movies. But is that my fault, or Apple’s for not creating Quicktime for Linux and not licensing Sorensen to anyone else?
